Identify your audience. What age group is the book targeting at? Help them understand why they should read your book. What are they going to get out of it? How do you think it will help them? What are the benefits of them reading the book?

Know what’s in the book. Provide an in-detail paragraph. Bullet points are more easier for the reader to catch up with what the book holds for him/her. Don’t forget to mention the benefits again. Does your book have any steps? Instructions? Or ways to do things? Make sure you make a small detailed paragraph about them.

Author Biography. Prove to the readers that you are a writer with a real story to tell. List your areas of expertise in relation to the book. Make sure you include your best achievements, credits, awards or certifications if you’ve received any.

Make sure you make your summary thorough so your reader knows the general subject, has an idea of some of the themes, knows a bit about the main character and the setting but not so much that they can predict where the book is headed.

Finish off with a question/keyline/teaser that will leave them wondering what actually happens. For example: The world is falling apart and the key to the mystical tomb lies in ever hidden forest beneath the tomb. It’s up to Carla and Jarold to find it. Once one of them finds it, the other competitor must die. But who will reach it first?

Overlander is, simply, a story of life lived to the fullest.

 

All of the experiences captured within these pages took place over the course of almost two decades. The one man tour started in 2001 with a simple dream, shared with the likes of Phineas Fogg and Nellie Bly: to travel around the world. But where Bly and Fogg where characters of fiction, this story is all too real. Also, all the travel was completed via motorcycle, which is the origin of this books title- “overlander” is the term motorcyclists use to describe one of their own who travels overseas via their motorcycle.

 

Sadly, the trip was not all sun covered hills and splendid starry night skies on the open road.

 

Following a series of sad circumstances and unfortunate events, the trip had to be cut short and the dreams of adventure and intrigue went into storage, right next to the travel gear and motorcycle used on the trip.

 

For over 14 years, the pain, frustration, and out and out shame lingered, burning a hole in the soul of the author, his dream falling thru his hands like sands out on the beaches of Ibiza. The bad turned worse as his company and marriage fell on hard times, his life speeding into an endless, pitch black tunnel on some lonesome highway.

 

However, our humble narrator did not give up hope.

 

When reflecting on his life up to that point, he realized that the failure of the round the world trip was the catalyst for all the woes that had befallen him since those faithful days.

 

Resolute in his determination to turn his life around, the trip was born anew in 2015, this time with a wonderful outcome. The trip saw our road tested raconteur travel thru 24 countries across four continents. The new travels took him to such once in a lifetime experiences as:

– driving thru brush fires in Australia

– scuba diving in Loch Ness and climbing Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in the British Isles

– surviving a close scrape with an Everest landslide, which saw him temporarily on the missing persons list
